According to the Mining Act of 2016, the Cabinet Secretary overseeing mining operations is required to establish an Artisanal Mining Committee (AMC) in each county of Kenya. These committees' primary responsibility is advising the Director of Mines' representative on matters related to the grant, renewal, or revocation of artisanal mining permits.
